We’ll examine your smile, explain treatment options, and help you make the best decision to repair your smile.
What is CEREC?
CEREC literally stands for chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics, and while this sounds very complicated, it just means we’re able to create a custom dental restoration like a crown using our chairside computers and in-office milling units. In just one appointment, we can repair a patient’s smile to the complete form and function and natural appearance that has been damaged by decay or trauma.
How Does CEREC Work?
The CEREC system allows us to complete the same process as regular dental restorations in our office. We begin by preparing the tooth for the crown. Then, we use a digital impression scanner to capture the prepared tooth. The impression is immediately viewable on our chairside monitor where we can design your dental restoration. The design is then sent to our in-office milling unit where a block of high quality ceramic that matches existing dental structures is milled into the custom crown. Then, we attach your dental crown, leaving you with a flawless smile.
What are the Benefits of CEREC?
CEREC has numerous benefits for our patients. Some of the positive responses we hear most often from those who choose CEREC restorations include:
- Convenience – no need for multiple appointments or waiting weeks between the placement of a temporary and permanent restoration. Patients can simply arrive with a damaged tooth and leave with a picture-perfect smile.
- Comfort – completed in just one visit, we’ll make sure patients are completely comfortable while they’re in our office. The mouth is numbed, and there’s no placement or removal of a temporary crown. The entire process is seamless and pain free.
- Quality – using the highest quality ceramic, the in-office CEREC milling unit creates natural-looking, long lasting dental restorations.
